Sad News ever::LIV Golf’s Talor Gooch has blunt two-word response on his major future

Talor Gooch confirmed he has no intention of attempting to qualify for this year’s US Open with a blunt two-word response to the media.

Gooch, 32, famously said earlier this season that The Masters would need an asterisk next to it should Rory McIlroy complete the career grand slam because a number of LIV Golf players such as himself were not part of the field.

With no eligibility status in the rest of the majors this season, World No.624 Gooch got straight to the point when pressed on his plans for US Open qualifying next month.

“I’m not,” said Gooch, who considers he deserves to have been given a special exemption into the majors this season.

The American’s comments came after fellow Smash GC members Jason Kokrak and Graeme McDowell confirmed they would both be going to US Open and Open qualifying this summer.

Graeme McDowell tells GolfMagic how Talor Gooch really feels about his majors snub

Smash GC captain and five-time major champion Brooks Koepka is already qualified for the US Open.

Gooch won the individual championship on LIV Golf last season after winning three times.

But despite his impressive 2023 campaign on the Saudi-backed circuit, he was not picking up OWGR points and has therefore fallen outside the top 600 in the world.

He was not handed an exemption by Augusta National to compete in The Masters last month, and it does not appear as though he will receive any exemptions into the US PGA in two weeks’ time, US Open next month and The Open in July.

“Gooch doesn’t care about playing in the majors,” said one golf fans on X.

“It’s as simple as that I don’t think he loses sleep at night thinking about invites.

“The continuous talk about the majors and LIV is beyond tiresome.”

Another tweeted: “He has a path to get these but chose not to. That speaks volumes.”
