BREAKING NEWS 😱: NBC names Brandel Chamblee and 2 others for the 4-person TV booth at the US Open.

NBC has finalized the lineup for next month’s U.S. Open broadcast, and a familiar face and voice will be sliding into one of the big chairs.

Sports Business Journal’s Josh Carpenter first reported Monday that longtime Golf Channel analyst Brandel Chamblee will be NBC’s lead analyst for the 2024 U.S. Open at Pinehurst. He is expected to be one of two people on the list. During prime time, the network will have a four-person booth, with Chamblee serving as an even-hole analyst alongside play-by-play man Dan Hicks. Mike Tirico and Brad Faxon will fill the odd hole. “He’s done an incredible amount of preparation,” NBC Top Golf producer Tommy Roy told SBJ in Chamblee. “I watched old tapes of Johnny Miller to see how he played and put my own spin on it. 。 。 . He earned this right. »

NBC has not yet found a replacement for Paul Azinger, whose contract was not renewed last fall. Chamblee, Faxon, Kevin Kisner, Nota Begay III, Luke Donald and Jim “Bones” McKay were substituted. Kisner currently has no plans to retire from playing, and recently said on the Golf Digest The Loop podcast that he would be unable to work this week due to his friend’s 50th anniversary celebration. Golf Digest also reported that plans for NBC’s U.S. Open had not been finalized as of two weeks ago. NBC executive producer and president of production Sam Flood told SBJ that the network made the decision to hire the team before the Masters. “This year we began using an odd-even hole allocation system for our commentator pairs,” Flood said in a statement. “Our new approach allows our commentators to provide more context to what’s happening, while creating more opportunities for our analysts and journalists to interact with each other and analyze the ‘why’ and ‘what’ how” before and after each moment.”

NBC also announced that Roger Maltby and Gary Koch would be part of the tournament’s coverage, as they did during the Players Championship in March. CHAMBLEE has become the main product of the Golf Week’s program “LIVE”. He recently said that he was ready to be ready to the main analyst in the tournament during the Adam Spac Golf Week. In total, NBC Sports will broadcast more than 200 hours of event coverage. The 2024 U.S. Open will be held at Pinehurst II from June 13th to 16th.
