News has filtered into the GolfMagic inbox today that two of golf’s biggest grip brands have united with SuperStroke acquiring Lamkin.

The longstanding and popular Lamkin brand has been around for 100 years having first started out making leather golf grips as far back as 1925.

Record 18-time major champion Jack Nicklaus and late great Arnold Palmer were just two of the most notable PGA Tour players to start using Lamkin’s successful rubber grips in the 60s.

SuperStroke, on the other hand, has very quickly established itself as the leading putter grip brand since its inauguration in 2006.

A number of the world’s best PGA Tour players use SuperStroke putter grips including Rory McIlroy and Jordan Spieth.

But the latest announcement will now elevate the SuperStroke brand to different heights having gained the strength of Lamkin’s historic position as the No.2 grip company in the world behind Golf Pride.

SuperStroke initially started out with mammoth rubber and metal designs, which first shot to fame on the PGA Tour when used by eight-time PGA Tour winner KJ Choi.

After then gaining some momentum on Tour, the brand switched to a polyurethane and EVA foam construction that now encompasses more than 50 different varieties of grip, led by its popular new Zenergy line.
