As THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson was nearing its conclusion, it became certain that all kinds of boxes would be checked for the champion. When the dust settled, Taylor Pendrith was the guy racing away with the wheelbarrow of benefits.

Pendrith’s breakthrough PGA TOUR victory yielded entry into the last three Signature Events, the first of which is this week’s Wells Fargo Championship. He also secured an exemption into the PGA Championship that follows. He debuted in the major with a T29 at Oak Hill Country Club last year.

With the win at TPC Craig Ranch, the Canadian also picked up spots in the 2025 editions of The Sentry, THE PLAYERS Championship and the Masters, and his PGA TOUR membership has been extended through his age-35 season of 2026.

THE CJ CUP also was the finish line in the year-long ranking of PGA TOUR earnings (i.e., “PGA Championship Points”) to help fill the field at Valhalla Golf Club for the PGA Championship. The top 70 gain entry. Of them, 27 were not yet eligible ranging from Denny McCarthy at 13th through Aaron Rai at 69th. This ranking in order of position outside the top 70 right now will be used to fill the field and determine the alternates once all automatic entries are filled.

This past weekend also was the checkpoint of the Official World Golf Ranking that the PGA of America uses to lock in 2023 Ryder Cuppers provided that they are inside the top 100. All 24 participants are comfortably in the bubble, so nobody from this subset has been bumped. The PGA of America this week is expected to announce its annual batch of special invitations that traditionally loop in all golfers inside the top 100. Golfers highly ranked outside the top 70 in PGA Championship Points also are considered regardless of position.
