Charles Barkley reveals the real reason Isiah Thomas was not part of the Dream Team: “Michael didn’t want him on the team”

Even though the 1992 Barcelona Olympics concluded 32 years ago, the composition of the United States men’s national basketball team, nicknamed the “Dream Team,” that competed in the tournament, remains a highly debated topic. After all, the players that made up that team were the cream of the crop of American basketball and are now considered legends of the sport.

One player who was not part of this elite group, however, was Isiah Thomas. Despite an impressive resume that includes being a 12-time All-Star and a two-time NBA champion with the Detroit Pistons, the Chicago native was left off the roster, raising eyebrows and sparking speculation as to why he wasn’t chosen.

In a recent interview on “Club Shay Shay,” Hall of Famer and Dream Team member Charles Barkley revealed the real reason behind Thomas’ exclusion from the Dream Team, baring it all boiled down to one simple fact: Michael Jordan didn’t want him on the team.

Wasn’t asked about it

Before touching on the sensitive topic of Isiah’s exclusion from the prestigious squad, Chuck cleared the air by saying the bigwigs that made the selections never asked for his opinion about whether the talented 6-foot guard should be included or not.

The Alabama product added that had they asked for it, he would have endorsed Thomas’ inclusion. After all, Zeke had just come off averaging 18.5 points and 7.2 assists in the 1991-1992 season and remained one of the league’s best point guards at that time.
