Kevin Garnett breaks down what should be LeBron’s next move: “This is the first time all the old superstars can be on the same team”

After the Los Angeles Lakers wasted another year of LeBron James’ ticking time, the big question right now is what King James will do next.

The last three years in Los Angeles have ended in disappointment, and with LeBron owning a player option for next season, a lot of people have talked about what they think King James will do during the summer.

Boston Celtics Hall of Fame Kevin Garnett said that he won’t be surprised if LeBron calls his fellow aging superstars and asks them to play with him on one team.

“If I’m Bron, I’m rolled up, already lit. I got the five lines in front of me. I got the phones out right here. I got KD on one line, I got CP on one line. I got Steph on one line. And we catching up. This is the first time I think that all the old superstars can actually be on one team and go out with a hurrah.” said KD on the Truth and Ticket podcast.

his son in the NBA and call it quits. According to KG, LeBron looked tired after the Nuggets series and looked like everything was weighing down on him. Meanwhile, the rest of the league has gotten younger and more talented.

“I think because of where we are and where I think the league with youth, you got youth and experience, look at the Boston Celtics, they are youth and experience. And now I’m watching teams be geared up for that. Like Minnesota is built for the future, the Rockets are built for the future. Even the King is built for the future.” explained Garnett.

Looking at the Lakers, Garnett thinks that they are not built for the future. The Purple and Gold do not have young superstars who will lead them into the future. Sure, the Lakers have Anthony Davis but even AD is no longer a spring chicken. For the Lakers to get young stars, they need to develop young players, which takes time. In a win-now mode, that can only be achieved with trades.

Pierce says the Lakers should eye Donovan Mitchell in a trade
The Lakers have long been linked with Dejounte Murray or even his backcourt mate Trae Young. However, KG’s former Celtics captain Paul Pierce, recently suggested that the Lakers should eye Cavs guard Donovan Mitchell.

“If I’m the Lakers GM, you know who I will target… Donovan Mitchell!… Will be the perfect fit,” Pierce said in a past interview. “Now you have a young Donovan Mitchell, you can pair with Anthony Davis, who needs to be the No. 2 guy on a championship team. And Donovan Mitchell would take so much pressure off LeBron if you gonna give him three years. Now your window is also open.”

Adding Donovan Mitchell to a team with Bron and AD sounds fantastic. However, at what cost will he get to L.A., if at all? The Lakers began their offseason by firing their entire head coach last Friday. Who knows what other moves they still have under their sleeve? But more than having new bench tacticians, the Lakers need to upgrade their roster to compete in the tough Western Conference.
