Ask most experts and they’ll tell you the same thing: Ludvig Aberg is golf’s next big thing. Don’t believe them? Perhaps his resume will help convince you.

Even though he’s been a pro for just a year, Aberg has already won on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour. He placed second in his major debut at last month’s Masters, and he’s already played on a winning Ryder Cup team. Aberg may be green, but he’s got plenty of game.

Most elite players are backed by an elite caddie — and Aberg is no exception. Ahead of the 2024 season, he linked up with veteran caddie Joe Skovron, who’s been the bagman for Rickie Fowler and, most recently, Tom Kim. So, what was the deciding factor for Skovron to leave Kim for an unproven rookie? He shared his thoughts on this week’s episode of GOLF’s Subpar.

That’s not an easy decision,” Skovron said. “It’s never an easy decision at all to make a switch in this profession, because it’s more than just a job. You develop a relationship. You develop friendships. Over time, that always increases.”

Skovron explained that although he and Kim had an excellent relationship, he felt that the decision to switch over to Aberg was the best decision for himself.
