McIlroy storms to Wells Fargo Championship win

The final leaderboard of the Wells Fargo Championship showcased Rory McIlroy’s impressive victory, marking his fourth win in the tournament. Despite initially trailing behind Xander Schauffele, McIlroy staged a remarkable comeback in the latter part of the game, surging ahead with a series of birdies and eagles. His exceptional performance, highlighted by a six-under 65 score at Quail Hollow, secured him a comfortable five-shot lead over Schauffele.
McIlroy attributes his recent string of successes to the confidence gained from his previous win at the Zurich Classic alongside Shane Lowry. Feeling confident in his golf swing and familiar with the course, McIlroy sees favorable circumstances aligning as he anticipates competing in the upcoming US PGA Championship at Valhalla, where he last claimed victory in 2014.
An Byeong-hun of South Korea claimed the third position, while Jason Day of Australia followed behind. In a separate event, Chris Gotterup clinched his inaugural PGA Tour title at the Myrtle Beach Classic, overcoming early setbacks to secure a convincing victory and earn a spot in the upcoming US PGA Championship.
