Liberty Coach Shares Blueprint To Stopping Caitlin Clark

The New York Liberty just went into Indiana for the Fever’s home debut and dominated. Indiana collapsed in the second half, leading to a 102-66 victory for the Liberty.

Despite all the hype that she garners, rookie Caitlin Clark wasn’t able to have a productive night. Against the Liberty on Thursday, Clark posted nine points, shooting 2-8 from the field and 1-7 from three.

New York coach Sandy Brondello spoke on the difficult task of stopping Clark and what it took for the team to get such a commanding victory.

I thought we executed scout really well. I mean Caitlin [Clark] demands so much respect out there and attention, and that’s what we did. “We have Betnijah Laney. What more could you ask? One of the best defenders in this league, if not the best,” said Brondello, via New York Liberty Videos on X.

Clark has dealt with a rough start to her career, but time will tell how good she really is. There are growing pains for now, but once Clark gets used to the speed and physicality, she will take over stat sheets across the league.
