Rory McIlroy has once again been named the richest young person in Northern Ireland, after the four-time major champion featured in The Sunday Times Rich List.

McIlroy has announced himself as one of the greatest professional golfers of his generation, winning 26 PGA Tour titles, 17 DP World Tour crowns and four major championships. The Northern Irishman’s impressive efforts on the course have unsurprisingly come with plenty of wealth.

And in doing so, he has become one of his nation’s wealthiest people, with the rich list claiming the 35-year-old’s 2024 wealth stands at £225 million ($285.9m), a cool £25 million up on the year prior. During his career on the PGA Tour, McIlroy has made a whopping £68 million ($87m) in

His latest big-money prize came just last week, after the European Ryder Cup star banked £2.9 million ($3.6m) for his fourth victory at the Wells Fargo Championship. Just days later however it was revealed that McIlroy and his wife Erica Stoll had filed for divorce.

The pair married back in 2017, and have one daughter, Poppy, who was born in 2020. McIlroy met Stoll back in 2012, whilst she was working for the PGA of America at the Ryder Cup. He had previously revealed his partner had helped him get a police escort to Medinah on the final day of the event after he was at risk of missing his tee time.

A spokesperson for the world No. 2 confirmed the news on Tuesday and “stressed Rory’s desire to ensure this difficult time is as respectful and amicable as possible. Obviously had a great day on Sunday at a golf course that I’ve grown to love over the years and had a lot of success at.

“Coming to a venue where I’ve had some success at before as well. Obviously get to go back to Quail Hollow every year. Don’t really get to come back here too much. Today was the first time I was on the golf course since 10 years ago, so it was good to
